Garden Network intern, Rockland County, NY

This is a short-term seasonal position involving organizational and outreach work dedicated to CCE Rockland’s School Garden Network. This position is suited for an organized, detail-oriented person
committed to school garden-based education and organic gardening practices. This person will also work closely with the Eat Smart New York Nutrition Program to ensure that the school gardens are
also aware of the nutrition education that is available through CCE Eat Smart New York program.

The School Garden Network has been housed at CCE Rockland since 2007. Given a recent revitalization of its efforts and focus, CCE Rockland’s horticulture staff is seeking assistance with building capacity and creating systems to ensure that the network serves the community to the best of its ability. The intern will be integral to establishing the network’s usefulness and effectiveness
for Rockland’s school gardening programs.

The Eat Smart New York Program promotes health by helping low-income individuals establish healthy eating habits and a physically active lifestyle. The intern will ensure that parents and students participating in the gardens are advised of the nutrition education available through CCE.
