McHutchison is offering two internship opportunities for students of the following disciplines: Agricultural Sciences, Horticulture, Plant Science, and related fields. Our internships will focus on the two main areas that coincide directly with our two main product lines: herbaceous plant materials (greenhouse) and woody plant materials (nursery). Please indicate which area you are interested in applying for. Applicants should have completed his or her junior year.
The following conditions should be considered by students applying for these opportunities:
▪Interns will be exposed to many aspects of the operations of our horticultural distribution business. This will include exposure to different departments in our NJ office, field trips to both local customers as well as suppliers (greenhouses and/or nurseries), and attendance of the Independent Garden Center (IGC East) show in Maryland.
▪All internships are based out of our home office in Wayne, New Jersey. Wayne is located approximately 21miles west of New York City.
▪ Internships will last between approximately 60 and 90 days which may be determined by intern’s availability. We anticipate a typical 60-day intern schedule may last from June 15 through August 15th.
▪Normal business hours are 8:00 am through 4:30 pm from Monday through Friday. All interns are expected to work those hours. The pay rate is $15.00 per hour.
▪McHutchison will not provide housing. However, we will assist in helping find local housing. All interns are responsible for their own transportation arrangements.
▪Interviews are best done in person but interviews via Skype will be made available to those students who are not able to have an in person interview.
