Research internship, Boyce Thompson Institute, Ithaca NY

I have an internship opportunity available this summer for an undergraduate to work on a project with groundcherry (Physalis pruinosa) and goldenberry (Physalis peruviana).  Actually, the plan is if a Cornell student is selected for this internship, then the project could be part of an independent research opportunity for credit to continue the work through the fall semester and perhaps into 2019.

I’m looking for an undergraduate interested in pursuing a plant breeding career path.  There will be opportunities to interact with growers in different counties throughout NY State who will be growing various lines we have because they will be providing feedback on what needs to be improved from their perspective.  Other parts of this internship will involve crossing different lines, growing up and evaluating populations for various characterisitics, learning how to do plant transformation and gene editing.

If you know of any undergraduates on a plant breeding career path who might be interested, please let me know.
