Horticulture production internship, Virginia Beach, VA

Want to spend your summer at the beach?  Come to Virginia Beach and spend your weekdays in an exciting horticulture production internship and your weekends exploring the beaches and culture of historic Hampton Roads.

We are looking for a passionate, motivated undergraduate or post-baccalaureate intern for 15-20 weeks this summer (2015) at the Virginia Tech Hampton Roads Agricultural and Research Extension Center. You will work beside graduate students and faculty from around the country to better understand how to utilize soilless substrate, water and nutrients as well as travel to Virginia nurseries to assist with on-farm research or extension activities. Weekdays will be filled with gaining knowledge and experience of horticultural science and plant research with an emphasis on woody ornamental crop production in nurseries.

Furthermore, you will assist in maintaining plant collections at the Tidewater Arboretum and Virginia Tech Hampton Roads plant evaluations.  You will also have the opportunity to lead your own research project and present your findings via publication or presentation.
